A VJ that listens to your music: more than 400 films generated, locked to the kick

Axiris has built a VJ that listens to the music played by the computer, finds its tempo and its downbeat, and locks AI-generated video clips onto it: more than 400 films, hitting on the kick and chaining with crossfades. The service runs in the browser, on an axiris.ai page reserved for invited accounts, and sends the picture to a party screen or a TV without touching the sound.
For weeks, we have been running with a simple idea: what if the picture followed the music, to the beat? Not a screensaver scrolling by, but visuals that hit on the kick, change on the first beat of the bar and chain the way a DJ chains tracks.
Today, the chain runs end to end, and it has already produced more than 400 films.
Worlds, then clips that beat
Everything starts from a world: a mood, a material, a light. Each world becomes a series of AI-generated clips, designed to loop and locked to the tempo: the picture breathes to the rhythm of the kick. The clips are assembled into films, ready to play.
Industrial techno, psytrance, ambient: one world per mood, one playlist per night.
The player that listens
The heart of it is the player. It listens to the music the computer is playing, finds the tempo and the downbeat, and locks the clips onto it, live.
- Crossfades counted in bars, a hard cut on the next "1", camera movement that pulses on the kick.
- Saved playlists, in order or shuffled: each clip plays once per round, and the transitions never repeat.
- A control screen for the VJ, a stage screen for the audience.
All the way to the party screen
The output goes to a second screen, to the TV in the lounge or the venue, or to a phone, over wifi. Measured on a TV: the clips land within a tenth of a second of the control desk.
A service, not a demo
The VJ has become an Axiris service: a page on axiris.ai, reserved for the accounts we open it to. You pick a playlist, start your music, and the picture follows.
We built it like the rest of Axiris: we do not generate at random, we build. Each clip is made for its place in the bar.
