The Directors

Timeline Director

Direct a film shot by shot: each shot has its image, its text, its duration, its references; you judge it on its own, you redo it on its own, and the edit keeps only what is validated. A tool of the Axiris studio, coming to the interface.

Timeline Director is the Axiris tool for directing a film shot by shot. A storyboard is split into shots; each shot carries its image, its text, its duration and its references, renders on its own and is judged on its own; a cut is a cut, and a shot that continues the previous one continues it. The edit keeps only what is validated, and a changed shot remakes the same film. It is a tool of the Axiris studio; it is coming to the online interface.

A film is built like an image

A video model cannot read a whole storyboard. Handing it a sheet of nine panels and expecting a film is asking it to guess the shots, the durations and the cuts. Some cloud engines do it, and do it well: Seedance takes an entire sheet and renders a film. But you direct nothing inside it: you run the whole thing again.

Timeline Director does the opposite. The storyboard is split, and the model is fed shot by shot. Each shot has its image, its text, its duration, its references. It renders on its own, is judged on its own, is redone on its own. Shot 4 is wrong? You redo shot 4. The other eight do not move.

What a shot carries

Its image. The storyboard panel, or an image built in Box Director: the film starts from an image you have directed, not from an image drawn at random.

Its text. What happens, the light, the camera movement, the sound atmosphere. Nova helps you write it, in the vocabulary the model follows; you reread, you decide.

Its duration. A duration is not decoration: it says how many actions a shot can carry. Three seconds is one gesture, not three.

Its references. The character sheet that holds the identity, several images per shot if needed.

Its join. A shot cuts, or continues the previous one. A cut is visible on the timeline, and it is measured as a cut; a match is measured as a match.

The edit keeps only what is validated

The validated shots are placed end to end, the sound is brought to the same level from one shot to the next, and the finishing pass runs over the whole film: interpolation, upscaling, and a pass that enhances the material. A film is no longer a draw you run again: it is an object you edit. You change one shot, you remake the same film.

What has been measured

A film of nine shots, forty-six seconds, from a single character sheet: each shot rendered without knowing the previous one, and the character is the same from the first shot to the last. The control exists: the same shot rendered without the sheet gives someone else. The measured times and the limits are in the news item that opened the service. Video: MiniMax H3 and the timeline

Where it is

Timeline Director is a tool of the Axiris studio. It runs with us, on an open-weights video model whose licence sets its own conditions by country (MiniMax H3); it is coming to the online interface. For a film that does not call for this shot-by-shot control, the whole sheet goes through the cloud. Create: video, shot by shot
